Reporting Crime

It’s not always easy to come forward and report a crime, but if you don’t tell us it’s almost like it never happened. If no-one reported crime, criminals would be free to do as they please.
You can report a crime by going into a police station, or you can dial 999 in an emergency or 101. Do you know the difference between 999 and 101?
When to Dial 999
You should only dial 999 in an an emergency.
An emergency could be when:
- Serious injury has been caused or there is a threat of serious injury
- A crime is in progress and the suspects are at or near the scene
Non-Emergency Number 101
You should use 101 to:
- Report a non-emergency crime
- Report anti-social behaviour, harassment or intimidation
- Report drunken or rowdy behaviour
- Report dangerous driving
- Speak to the Police about a general enquiry
101 is only available in Wales and certain areas of England and Northern Ireland at the moment.
More information on 101 is on 101cymru.net
