Policing the Police

Did you know that 30% of communities in the Dyfed Powys police area are made up of children and young people aged up to 25 years old?  So if you’re in that age group, how can you get your voices heard about local policing?

Did you know that there is an organisation whose legal role is to set priorities for the police force having listened to the views of local communities?  The organisation is called Dyfed-Powys Police Authority and we are made up of 19 local people from Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire and Powys.  It is our job to inspect the performance of the police force making sure that local policing meets the needs of local people.  But how can we find out what the people of Dyfed-Powys want from local policing?  By listening to your views!  So if you would like to tell us what you think police should be focussing on in 2012/13, here’s one way of doing so.  Read “Have your say” to find out how.

It is also our role to promote people’s rights if they are ever stopped and searched by police.
